Returning to England ~ The Adventure Continues...

We have turned over a new leaf.  We're back in the UK and we've begun our next phase here.  We have a new blog, and this time you can sign up and follow along.

We had a great summer in the US.  Visited with family and friends, saw my niece graduate, caught a Yankee game, explored the seas from both boat and shore, and consumed lots of ice cream, bagels, and pizza -  treats you just can't get in the UK!  We swam, watched movies, ate out, and just caught up with loved ones.  It was a great summer.  The only downfall is that only three of us got to go.  Ryan made the All Star Baseball team so Mac and Ryan stayed in the UK while we went abroad.  It was a last minute change that came a bit unexpected, but was exciting nonetheless.

Our trip back to the UK was uneventful but only because God was looking down on us.  We should have been delayed two times which would have changed our trip drastically.  In fact we probably would not have made the plane in Newark.  The line to check in was out the door.  Somebody said there was a guy on the tarmac waving knives around.  That's a show stopper.  Likewise, when we arrived at Heathrow we were told the customs line was three hours long.  That's half the time it takes to get to the UK!  But we got lucky.  Two times.  Kids.  Sometimes they bring you to places you least expect.  Like to the front of the line.  Perhaps our luck is changing!

The last year and a half has certainly been exciting.  We've mastered everyday tasks.  Driving and grocery shopping were definitely challenging at first.  We've traveled to exotic places far and wide like Austria, Paris, Normandy, and Dubai to name a few.  We've tried new sports - some call it soccer but we call it football - and we perfected the old ones too.  Poland, here we come.  We even found a flair for the arts.  Acting, singing, and playing piano.  Who knew?  Plus, we've had our share of mishaps.  Ash cloud, snow delay, vacation gone awry (due to a revolution), a broken-down car, and theft.  Yes, our car broke-down in Amsterdam and was broken into in Brussels.  We never did blog about that trip.  Unfortunately, the mishap list goes on and on.

However, we have turned over a new leaf and lady luck is on our side.  Stay tuned for more adventures.  We leave for Poland tomorrow to watch the Great Britain All Star Baseball team compete against Europe.  If they win, they go to Williamsport, PA and play in the Little League World Series at the end of Aug.  If they lose, we'll chalk it up to another lifetime experience.  Either way, it's a win-win and Ryan has some new sporty gear.
